This song is easy to interpret in my opinion. SOAD have said alluded in a live performance that the song is about fundamentalist Christianity. It's this firm belief, and beliefs without evidence that their whole first album opposes. Just read the ramble in the liner notes (you can ironically pick up this album for really cheap at Wal-Mart). It's written sarcastically to be more derisive. "had an outer body experience the other day" - An outer body experience is obviously not something you have “the other day” “Her name was Jesus And for her everyone cried” – Again, written to be derisive of Christianity. Could be referring to the experience in the feminine and not Jesus. Don’t read too much into this. “Everyone cried” – i.e. people take these beliefs very seriously which is problematic. “Try her philosophy Try her philosophy Try her philosophy, try You die for her philosophy Die for her philosophy Die her philosophy die” – See for yourself how poisonous these beliefs are. Try it out. People die for them. “Crossed and terrored Ravages of architecture Lend me thy blades We're crossed and terrored Ravages of architecture Hoist around the spade” - Referring to the violent history of Christianity, i.e. the crusades, inquisitions, etc. Can be applied to any religion or belief that turns violent. “Die, die, die, why” - Why do people die for these beliefs? Also a double entendre since Jesus dies for humanity in the Christian narrative. “Lie naked on the floor And let the messiah Go through our souls Lie naked on the floor And let the messiah Go all through our souls” – Allowing yourself to be convinced of these beliefs is equal to rape. Hence the naked imagery. “Die, like a motherfucker Die, like a motherfucker Die, like a motherfucker Why, like a motherfucker” – Again, Why do people die for these beliefs? Here Serj gets more aggressive, hinting Jesus and firm belief is a motherfucker. Also hinting at the ending (more on this later). “I want to fuck My way to the garden Cause everyone needs A motherfucker” – garden probably referring to the Garden of Eden. i.e. the paradise myth in the Abrahamic religions. Every human has a need to believe in something bigger than themselves, but the paradise myth is a motherfucker for your mind. “The following of a Christ” - Again, “a Christ” because the album is critiquing blind belief and the following of any cult figure or oppressive system. “The falling of Christ” – Serj hopes that this blind belief will eventually collapse on itself by virtue of its own illogic. |

| Also, the wikipedia article with the similar title as this song fits the theme of the album well, but moreso "idiots are taking over". | |

| I think the song rests on the lyric "But" in the last verse. Basically Helen is in the worst living situation of the 3 people, but she's labelled as the most irrational because she kills a family. Maybe Mike's trying to say that the other 2 people are equally or more irrational because their positions affect more lives in a negative way. | |

| I think it's about war too. I was just listening to a Holiday in Cambodia cover which uses similar language sarcastically to describe going to war if I'm not mistaken. This music wouldn't be out of Tom's influence either. | |
