Well, and I'm only responding with what I *think* it means, "In the Black" is a firefly term for the outlying planets which are far from the grasp of The Alliance. The people who live on these planets are free from The Alliance however they live a hard life that lacks in technology and amenities. This song talks about how you can live in these plants and you're free, but you'll be lonely. I'm sure there are other underlying meanings as well, but this is the only one I know of in reference to "in the black". |
