| Mariah Carey – Butterfly Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Generally, the song is about letting a loved one go to see if they return. That has many interpretations depending on who is listening. In my opinion, the song isn't really about a break up. It's about letting the person you love go because you want what's best for them. Maybe it's because they have a career or a dream they've always wanted to pursue and you care so much you want them to reach it. In other words, you let them fly... and hope that one day, somehow they will find their way back into your life. | |
| Brandy – Almost Doesn't Count Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I think the song is about dating someone who hasn't completely moved on from their past. The story behind it is a girl realizing her partner is not fully committed to her and that's not what she wants. She decides she wants to find someone else who is ready for her. She doesn't seem to have any anger towards her partner, but she doesn't promise she will be there when they are ready for her. I never really connected with this song until now, but I'm glad I did. It helped me realize why we never worked out. |

| Mariah Carey – Through The Rain Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| It's finding the strength in you to get up, believe, and love yourself because when you can do that, then you can overcome anything. It's a simple message, but a challenge for some who find themselves at their lowest point. It's definitely uplifting and inspiring when this song plays at the right moment. | |
| Maroon 5 – Nothing Lasts Forever Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
It's hitting that unexpected wall in a relationship. He realizes they're no longer moving forward as one, but as two different souls who've grown apart. They break up only to make up. They don't wanna let go because of how deep they've gone, which can be a real confusing situation. Yes, sex definitely makes it temporarily better, but only to an extent. Again, they're still together, but they're not going anywhere with the relationship. He wants to reach out and make it work, except he doesn't feel her accepting his offer. It's difficult to determine whose at fault or if either of them are to blame at all. It's a part of a relationship and life in general that most people have to endure at a certain time. I like how he puts his words together so well. |

| Mariah Carey – Emotions Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| It's about infatuation. She likes the feeling of being with this guy. She doesn't know if it's real love, but she's in love of the moment.. not him. It basically explains the feeling of the beginning of a new relationship. | |
| Mariah Carey – It's Like That Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
It's not a song filled with depth. She just wants to have a good time. Fave line of the song: "Purple taking me higher. I'm lifted and I like it". I swear MC does way more than she would admit to the public. It's all in her music. |

| Mariah Carey – Crybaby Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Literally, that's what she wrote and it's kinda funny now that u mentioned it. I do think there's a deeper meaning to the song though. If this is something MC has done then she's putting out a vulnerable side of her through music. She doesn't like to admit anything sexual she's done with men, but here she's admitting to have slept with a rebound guy. I think this is a song she wrote personally for her and not so much for her fans. It's a way for her to vent making it an even more personal song. |

| Mariah Carey – Stay The Night Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Sounds like she's with an ex that reconnected with her. The chemistry is still there; although, he has a new girl. She wants to "stay the night", but she knows it's probably not the best decision. It's about the temptation of going back to an ex, only she added a promiscuous story behind it. | |
| Mariah Carey – Breakdown Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Verse 1: Talks about a break up done over the phone. It's an honest and kind break up, so she's unsure of how she should react. She decides to go with the flow and be understanding of what her ex wants. Chorus: She's trying to be strong for herself by not showing anyone the pain felt after a split. She goes through her day with a smile, but when she gets home she can't help but to breakdown and cry. Verse 2: She sings to the audience and asks them how they would feel if they went through what she described in verse 1. A clever way to write a song because the audience is allowed to reflect on their love life making it easy to connect to the song. Rap: This section has a lot of depth. Each member of BTNH put a quick flow about accepting the break up and moving on or waiting for the future and stuff like that. My fave line is "Don't let this world get the best of you". The song is easy to relate to and very meaningful if a person has ever been left by someone they wanted to stay with. |

| Alicia Keys – Diary Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The song is about trust. The lyrics talk about a girl who really wants to connect and get to know this guy. She wants him to express his feelings, thoughts, and emotions to her. She emphasizes that she will keep his secrets all to herself. She wants him to trust her. | |
| Alicia Keys – Lesson Learned Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
It's a storyline song. Verse 1: She runs to a friends home after the break up. Her friend is kind enough to be there for her telling her, "I told you so" & "It's alright". Verse 2: The friend is giving her advice, trying to make her realize the lies and how much they've been repeated multiple times. He tells her the relationship will eventually end when she realizes that this isn't what she wants or needs for her. Bridge: These are the lessons learned after talking to a friend or maybe the break up, but regardless of the situation this section is talking about growth and maturity. Thus the the time "Lesson Learned". In conclusion, the song is about a man who consistently lied to his woman and she kept coming back to him, but thanks to a good friends advice she realizes her mistakes and moves on with a few lessons learned to avoid being in that situation again. I love the simplicity, depth, and the clever way this song was written. |

| Mariah Carey – Vision of Love Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I see why it could a bit confusing in finding the meaning of this song for a lover and the love of God; although, please keep in mind that this is a soul genre song. I personally think it's about her and the struggles she's been through to get to where she was at that moment. She believed, had strong faith, and it got her what she always wanted. Her vision of love was for a dream to come true and this song symbolizes the moment it occurred. |

| Mariah Carey – Vanishing Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Lyrically, it's about naturally letting go and forgetting about an ex; although, from time to time memories appear and it makes it a challenge to move on. Towards the end, the lyrics show that this person still wants to hold on, but can't help it no longer. The past will eventually vanish. To me, it's about the heart and brain disagreeing and not knowing which one to listen to. In this case, the brain is ready to move on and the heart is still holding onto good times. Eventually at the end of the song this person moves on, which is probably the best thing to do. |

| Mariah Carey – Don't Forget About Us Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
The song is written in a story form made to be relative for a girl who can't let go of the past. She believes what they had was unique and will never be replaced by any other partner he will have in the future. The lyrics emphasize that there is still hope and a possibility for it to work out, if given the chance. The rap section shows off confidence by comparing herself to the new partner and how she will never come close to his ex. In my opinion, it sounds like young love or a strong infatuation that finally ended. No reasons specified, but I take it as "the fire going out". Some couples find that spark to keep it going and others are left trying to figure out what went wrong when it might've just been the wrong time and place. The lyrics are easy to relate to because it leaves out the reason of the break up and allows the listener/reader to add their own reasons. The song emphasizes more on happy memories, possibilities, and that irreplaceable feeling that makes it hard to let go of anyone who shared the same moment of feeling "love" between them. |
