One of my favorite songs on the album.

Jack White – Love Interruption Lyrics 13 years ago
I think the song is about how love can change you in so many negative ways and make you do things that you never thought you were capable of doing. The chorus simply explains that he won't let love have such a hold on him any more.

DragonForce – Holding On Lyrics 13 years ago
I enjoy listening to the song but I can't help but think of how good ZP would sound if he had sung this. It's more this style imo.

Arcade Fire – Vampire/Forest Fire Lyrics 14 years ago
I think its about people attempting to completely abandon and ignore their past (for various reasons like an abusive father or a father who never has time for you because he is always working) in hopes of having a better future. Yet they soon relize that it was their past that made them into who they are today and that you will never truely be able to get rid of it.

Lamp's thoughts on the song's meaning is probably the best way to put it.

Arcade Fire – My Heart Is an Apple Lyrics 14 years ago
Arcade Fire was made in 2001 and they released the ep in 2002 but they went through various changes in their line up due to numerous members leaving. They then re-released a studio version of the ep and eventually signed to Merge Records and you all know what happens next.
-----------------------------------
Anyways, I agree that this song is an apology from Win to his family for leaving them but he has grown tired of his life there and he wanted to start over again in some place new and live the life he wants to live.

Arcade Fire – The Woodlands National Anthem Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it could possibly be about young gay lovers. How the neighborhood eventually found out about them and they deal with the sort of fall out behind it.

I like Eb's explaination on how people are trees but I dont think it's really people but love. And how the trees (the love from family members) keep falling (breaking) because people dont accept their lifestyle and how the only people they really have is each other. "Make a raft of our bodies" - Now bodies is another meaning for trees (as I see it) so they are making a raft out of their love to see if it is really as strong as they think it is.

And by saying that "What I said was not a joke, But you just licked the envelope) is another way of saying that there is no turning back now and how they already sealed their fates. And then the blame game starts and it turns to the public's POV and how they are always looking to blame someone for another's actions - Such as blaming the parents for their children's actions. Then it goes back to the lovers' POV saying how you can blame anybody you want but truth is that there is no blame.

Arcade Fire – Old Flame Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it's about a guy who is seduces women so much that he is sort of stuck in this phase in his life that he cant get out of. It starts off with him seducing a woman (You knew in 5 minutes but I knew in a sentence) and in his mind he grows tired of the same old routine and he simply wants it to be over with (So why do we go through all of this again). The woman's interest in him is clear (her eyes are fluttering) and she flirts with him back (such pretty wings - which means he finds her attractive). And the woman (a moth) falls for his game like every other women he has been with (flying into the same old flame again). And his plans work once again and proves that (it never ends).

Then suddendly he starts to grow a conscience (Its not like I dropped the bomb on my conscience, mom). And he finds himself at a constant war (Fighting day and night) to stop his ways (To make such a good thing die)

He finally breaks down (Out, everyone out) but he soon relizes that he simply cant give it up (In my heart and mind, It gets me every time) and it leads him back to where he started, Seducing another woman.

Jeff Buckley – The Sky Is A Landfill Lyrics 14 years ago
I think the song is about the lack of development in the world, Not with technology but with ourselves. How we have been stuck in the same role as human beings for centuries and we refuse to change, Even in times when we demand it.

Jeff Buckley – Forget Her Lyrics 14 years ago
The man is walking aimlessly through town as he cries but he doesnt cry over the end of his relationship, He cries over the fact that this woman will never change and will end up doing this to another man just like him.

He talks about their love, About how it starts off beautifully and then it slowly but surely fades away and begins to die. He talks about how she is "full of wine" (Immature, like how you are while you are drunk) and that the world around her is sober (Mature) and that her immaturity no longer has a place in the world - He is begging her to grow up

He thinks back about his relationship and relizes that she never loved him and she only viewed him as a toy - Something that she played with until she got bored and found something new. He remembers the pain of finding out that it is all a lie, that her love was a joke, and that the smell of the bed gave away what she had done (cheated on him).

He continues walking and tells himself that he wont ever need her again, that he wont ever see her again. Yet he knows that its a lie and even in his best efforts to forget about her, He knows that she is still out there some where.

Jeff Buckley – Grace Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it's about a man who has long accepted his mortality and he no longer fears death but accepts him as he would a friend and that its just another part of life that we all must come to eventually.

The woman he loves doesnt share the same views and is afraid of her mortality, afraid of death.
"As she weeps on my arm, Walking to the bright lights in sorrow, Oh drink a bit of wine, We both might go tomorrow, Oh my love"
She is afraid of dying, Afraid of "walking into the bright lights". He is telling her to calm down "Oh drink a bit of wine" and to not be afraid. That death can come at any time "We both might go tomorrow".

When the man's death does come, He knows that people will be sad and mourn him and "It reminds me of the pain I might leave behhind". Yet eventually they will all forget him "drown out his name" and that his name and his legacy will soon follow with him in death "So easy to know and forget with this kiss" He refers to the kiss of death. That while people will mourn him when he passes (As everyone does after the death of a loved one) they will eventually move on and forget him as time passes.

The last line of the song "Im not afraid to go but it goes so slow" refers to him knowing that even though he accepts death and is waiting for it with open arms, He cant decide when he goes or not. That Death will eventually come for him on its own. He simply has to wait for the time that Death comes and the time "goes so slow"

Jeff Buckley – Last Goodbye Lyrics 14 years ago
"This is our last goodbye, I hate to feel the love between us die but its over, Just hear this and then Ill go, You gave me more to live for...more then youll ever know"

I feel it refers to a Man who is clearly in love with a woman yet the man breaks things off with her because he feels that he disapointed her or that he isnt good enough for her and wont be able to satisfy her needs. He breaks things off so she can get the things that she deserves and even though he broke up with her, He will continue to charish the memories they created together

"This is our last embrace, Must I dream and always see your face?, Why cant we overcome this and more?, Baby maybe its because you didnt know me at all"

The man is tormented by his former love, He cant stop thinking about her now that its all over between the two of them. He questions himself as to why they cant overcome their problems and he tries to blame it on her, Thinking that its their fault that they cant have the relationship that he always wanted.

"Kiss me..Please kiss me, Kiss me out of desire babe not consolation, Oh you know it makes me so angry because you know that in time I will only make you cry, This is our last goodbye"

He begs her to kiss him in hopes of re-kindling their lost love. He relizes his mistake for breaking things apart and that it was him that ruined it all. He begs her to kiss him out of love and not because he asked her too. Eventually he relizes that what he is doing is stopping her from living a happy life and that he will only bring her down with him. He relizes that its finally over between them and he leaves.

"Did you say No this cant happen to me, Did you rush to the phone to call, Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind saying Maybe you didnt know him at all"

This is from the woman's perspective and how she regrets them ending their relationship as well. Her love for him makes her want to go back to him but eventually she relizes that he was right, That they were better off apart even if it pains them to do so.

"Well the bells out in church tower chime, Burning clues into this heart of mine, Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories offer signs that its over...its over"

Returning to the man's POV - He hears the wedding bells go off and it strikes him hard in his heart. He thinks about her and all the memories they had together and finally he relizes that its all over between them
