@[MasterCracker:47097] - Let's not be petty. Thrash metal is a sub genre of heavy metal. So yes, someone can say that Testament is heavy metal. |

Chris Degarmo mentioned in an interview that he wrote the lyrics to this song after having a nightmare. Beyond that, I'm not sure if the song has any deeper meaning. |

According to a Chris Degarmo interview, the song was about this gifted child who could see everything and knew what was coming, and it wasn’t a very good picture. A warning was being issued. |

According to a Chris Degarmo interview, at the time of Rage for Order, the whole band was really into the Vampire Chronicles books. Walk in the Shadows is indeed about a vampire who's infactuated with a woman and trying to convince her to join him, to cross over to the dark side of vampirism. |

Chris Degarmo wrote the song and the lyrics. He mentioned it's about lucid dreaming. Yes, a child was added to the lyrical story line, but it's still about lucid dreaming. The song was not written about Tate's child, regardless of what he said in concert. Remember, in 2005, Degarmo was no longer with the band, so I'm sure Tate would exaggerate the meaning of some of the songs Degarmo had written. |

Actually, don't put too much thought about the meaning of this song, everyone. The song's meaning is actually in the title. The song is indeed about lucid dreaming (aka dream control), and that's it. In an interview, Chris Degarmo stated that he wrote the song from his own experiences of lucid dreaming, and the freedom it gave him to actually participate in his dreams. He also got inspiration from a book called "Creative Dreaming." It was a subject he had gotten interested in a few years before he wrote the song. Lyrically, he made the song into a story about a little child who has a nightmare about someone close to him dying. He wakes up completely emotionally shaken and crying, and a parent figure comes in and tells him, "Hush, it’s just a dream/Wide awake you face the day/The dream is over, or has it just begun." |
