| Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Disaster is somewhat correct. I'm a long-time Zeppelin fan. I didn't want to believe that the music from STH was almost completely ripped off by another band, but it is. The other band didn't write the music for them though. Zeppelin just ripped them off. It doesn't make the song a bad one. It's a timeless classic, but the music was still stolen from another band. It is well-documented that quite a few riffs from their songs were stolen. Don't hate on me for writing this. It's just plain fact. Google it or go to you tube and see for yourself. Peace. | |
| John Lennon – Crippled Inside Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I remember hearing this album as a kid. It was in the 90s and I didn't know all of the details then, but I quickly learned after becoming a Beatles fanatic that all of the angrier songs on it were him basically giving Paul a lashing. "Crippled Inside" and, especially, "How do you sleep" were directed straight at Paul, amongst other songs. Paul also came out with an album with direct messages to John that were just as spiteful. Even though these songs were extremely raw and anger-driven toward each other, they were still able to cross-over to mainstream audiences who have similar feelings about people in their own lives. That's the magic of great songwriting. Conveying one's own feelings into a piece of work that people can relate to on a personal level-which has nothing at all to do with the writer's initial intent or direction in their own mind(s) of what the song's meaning is-is what good songwriting is all about. Lennon is a master of this. He's also great at conveying direct messages that are completely straightforward without any question as to what the song's meaning is. |

| Leonard Cohen – You Have Loved Enough Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I disagree about the being stood up comment. I think he's finally met someone who loves him more than he's ever been loved. He feels the same and is trying to be the "man" in the relationship by being the aggressor. That is why she laughs. The person is telling him that he doesn't have to do or be anything except himself. This person is telling him that she will be the lover. She will love him enough for the two of them. It's a spiritual love. The line: "That I am not the one who loves. It's love that seizes me," lends one to believe that this love was meant to be. They had no choice in loving one another. "When hatred with it's package comes. You forbid it's delivery" makes me think that this woman is being the protector in this relationship, which is something he's never experienced before. This woman is teaching him what real love is truly about. "You have loved enough. Now let me be the lover," is reiterating this point. "I am not the one who loves. It is love that chooses me." To me, that means that this love is an all-encompassing, fated love in which he can relax in. She's comforting him. He's not used to feeling completely comfortable in a relationship, but he can with her. She's taking control. He knows that this woman will be there for him like no other. She's looking out for his best interest. He can rest assured that she will always be there for him. He can sit back and just being loved for the first time. |

| Fiona Apple – Never Is a Promise Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I accidentally hit negative on this one. I was trying to hit positive. I think you are right on in regard to its the meaning. At least that's the way that I perceive it to be. | |

| The Beatles – Don't Pass Me By Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I find it very cute that you are so convinced that Paul died and Ringo wrote this about him. (Did you do a little too much tripping back in the day, mate?) I've watched all of the Paul is dead documentaries and read so many articles about it, because it fascinates me that people would actually believe this to be true. It is conceivable that he could have died in a car crash like it was reported. It's also possible that he could have been replaced by the guy who won the Paul McCartney look alike contest the year before his supposed death. But it's implausible to think that they could have found someone with the same degree of talent that Paul had and also look almost identical to him. The entire thing is very interesting, but it's very much a fantasy. It's not reality. What I find really amusing, though, is the fact that all the "Paul is dead" conspiracy theorists don't realize that The Beatles weren't giving off signs in their songs, album covers, etc..., that Paul was dead. I think they found it absolutely maddening (in jest) that people would go to such lengths to align everything they said or did to them sending signals to their audience that Paul was actually. The Beatles were all known for being merry pranksters. I think they did feed into the entire conspiracy theory in a joking manner for their own enjoyment, just to see how far people would take it. They were quite clever and cheeky like that. The mere fact that it's still being talked about over forty years later shows just how brilliant they really were. |
