Matt Corby – Runaway Lyrics | 5 years ago |
Maybe my interpretation is similar to the comment below, but for me, it’s about a man being afraid of love, and about him being in love with someone who’s very different from himself. A woman who is maybe wild, warm, open and raw. He on the other hand comes off as distant, scared. He is in awe of her, maybe cuz’ she is different and brave with who she is, but at the same time he wants to run away from her, or rather, it’s more of a self-fulfilling prophecy. If he actually comes close to her, she will leave anyways... so he convinces himself of: “she don’t give a shit about you, so just run away”... as a way to protect himself. |
Akon – I Wanna Fuck You (feat. Snoop Dogg) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I like that he's so raw and honest in this song. Who cares if it's not "politically correct"?! There's so much pretentious shit out there that Akon's honesty is like a fresh breeze and I like it! (female) |

one of the best beats in hiphop/rap music. |
Lil' Wayne – Drop the World Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think this song is about power, the power of man, the power of the mind. And making use of that, acknowledging that we can all "pick up the world" and have power, but also the power to drop it, to not have any power at all and not to care at all. |
Wendy Rene – After Laughter Lyrics | 11 years ago |
This to me, means that things always end and nothing is permanent. |
Paolo Nutini – Still Crazy Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I was crazy for you. so much meaning in that one sentence. I was- the sad notion of the past, nostalgia, sentiment, memories, endings. crazy- madness, irrational, chemically unbalanced, nervousness, sweat, tears, laughter, and everything in between: above all, unconditional affection! for- for you, all of that, sacrificing my own needs, my happiness for you, to make you see that I _see_ you. you I was crazy for you. |
Aretha Franklin – Ain't No Way Lyrics | 11 years ago |
"Oh but how can I how can I how can I Give you all the things I have If you're tying both of my hands" beautifully heartbreaking. |
Ed Harcourt – Rain On The Pretty Ones Lyrics | 11 years ago |
What is wrong? My opinion/interpretation? I'm not stating that "pretty/happy" people haven't experienced pain. That's not the point. The point is that even though two people experience the exact same thing, they walk away from it with different outlooks. And of course there are "shiny" people in this world. People who have been served all their life, who have not really experienced that much expect from all that invovlves their own little bubble. |
The Weeknd – Twenty Eight Lyrics | 11 years ago |
"This house is not a home to you But you decide to go ahead and lay down, lay down" I think this song is about letting someone in, interacting with someone, from his side with only sexual intentions, but from hers: it's as if she doesn't want to see that he's unavailabe to give her anything more than a a shallow "invitation". And now he regrets doing so, because she somehow is telling everyone how great he is and this was not his plan at all. "I'm so wrong, I'm so wrong To let you in my home Now you know where I sleep (Never felt so damn weak) Baby if I knew you'd be living in my sheets I wouldn't have shown you any love" But here's where he gets contradictory, because it seems as if he also somewhere deep down has fallen for her, he is weak for her and is afraid she will hurt him. All in all, it's about being scared, of letting someone in your heart/home/life, because of the vulnerability and hurt that can come from it. |

Lana Del Rey – Ride Lyrics | 11 years ago |
"For home to be wherever you lie your head" I think this song is about having this inner complexity and depth that is making you want to free yourself form your mind, and at the same time try to fit in in this shallow society of today. It's about people looking at you like you're crazy because they don't understand you. It's about wanting to find a home, some inner comfort, but at the same time knowing you will never be able to do that so you just ride, just go, just let go of all conventions and morals. There's a torment in being like this, having this rich capital of emotions, thoughts and wants but it's also how you know you are alive. "Dying young and playing hard, that's how my father made his life an art" Dying, dying and then to be reborn. To go through the hardships of life, experience pain and hurt and to be able to detach yourself from it. And to use that as a part of your life, to turn the pain into something raw and beautiful, to turn it into art. "I'm tired of feeling like I'm f-ck-n crazy Baby, too much I strive, I just ride" Again, a disassociation to everything ordinary/normal, maybe even happiness, and a feeling of madness that is haunting your being and making you feel crazy. And there's no point of striving to be ordinary, to live simple so you just ride. you seek to be free from yourself, from your mind and you live on the edge, go wild, maybe to point of being destructive, you feed those hounds inside that need and want so much by maybe even causing yourself physical pain. I think lana is a highly sensitive person, or maybe she just wants to be. In any case, it's a beautiful song and essentially it's about finding an inner peace, a peace of mind and to feel fulfilled. "I am fucking crazy, but I am free" |
Ed Harcourt – Rain On The Pretty Ones Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think it's about the tragedies of life, contradictions, ambiguity, loss, fear, death. When he sings: Rain on the pretty ones, you leave no footprints in the dust. In a way it's about these "pretty" and "perfect" people who haven't experienced struggle and who haven't "lived" truly and fully. Life is not only about happiness and perfect shiny facades, it's also about failure, sadness, loss, fear... whitout experiencing hardship you can't really say that you have lived. The title: "Rain on the pretty ones", to me, says: Well, since you are hollow and haven't been through any hardships in life, you don't really matter, you're not really human, soo rain on the pretty ones, rain on the perfect and happy people that are not aware of the true nature of life. or something.... I don't know |
Cat Power – Metal Heart Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think this song is about being in love with someone who's in love with something else, a passion or a dream, a job maybe. And in a way he's putting her aside for the sake of his own interests, but she can sense that he's faking it and that maybe his passion/job/dream is just something to hide behind because he can't show his true feelings and that he loves her. He has a metal heart. So she's saying: Be true, to yourself! And if you're hiding and if you can't love me then you're not worth a thing. "sew your fortunes on a string and hold them up to light blue smoke will take a very violent flight and you will be changed and everything and you'll be in a very sad sad zoo" For me, these lines mean that there are no absolutes, in life you have to take chanses and go with it all because things can change quickly, life can pass you by without you having loved or been honest and true. Also that you can't plan everything and you really can't afford to be cold hearted and afraid. So she is saying: "Sew you're fortunes on a string and hold them up to light!" see if anything happens, if you're lucky. And then in the end she realizes that maybe he's not hiding, that maybe he's just not able to feel anything for her. And so she's mad and blames it on his metal heart, that's not worth a thing. "I once was lost but now I'm found was blind but now I see you" She really loves him. |

Brandi Carlile – The Story Lyrics | 12 years ago |
You know when you have been through alot of misery, alot of heartache and relationships that didn't last, and you kind of give up on it all, on love, life, all of it? And then one day you meet this amazing person who changes it all, who gives you peace in mind and in your soul/heart. I'ts meant to be, it's so easy, effortless, you share every inch of your depth and soul with them, you're made for each other. and finally you're home.. ? Well this is about that. I think. |
