I believe you're right that our singer cheated, though he's not apologizing and that's part of the parody aspect - it's a guys lame (reminiscing about the Dollar General, and her holding his head on a bus near Missouri. That is great stuff.) attempt to sweet talk his girl into taking him back, or at least to agree to one last roll. "But if you don't trust me girl, that's ok, I understand, It's been a really long road. We've had our ups and downs. So do me this last favor. Me and you One last prom." That's my take. Reminds me of MacArthur Park with the overblown sentimentality. And I love the sultry sax. But most of the last stanza loses me, especially the seven 38s. Somebody got a clue? |
