I think it is about stages of life: "First law is to be" - First, you are born. You exist. "Second has eyes to see" - Soon, you start to sense the world around you "Third one is filled with mystery" - You start to wonder and explore your life "Four roads from four corners" - Different choices that affect your life "Five, it defines a man" - The adulthood defines what kind of person you are/were "Six somehow has everyone talking" - Everyone speaks about you when you die. Many famous people, especially painters and poets, only became famous after their death. "How many do you need And what is necessary Call upon the first and the last Everyone around the golden" - We care too much about "The first and the last" (Birth and death), and not enough about "the golden" (life itself). The last verses are there just to add more power to the message - you need to let go of the worries about life and death and focus on the life itself more. Awesome song. |

It indeed is about the difference between gods and mortals, but people keep forgetting these lines: "For the part of man Is to take the sombre path Stumble in the dark Stray amidst the dust and ash" The song is not just about how much better the lifes of gods are, it is also about that we are not gods, and we 're meant to accept it and live life the way it's given to us. Even though that can mean the hard way - it is a part of being human. Just what I think about it, and sorry about poor english :) |

Someone has to start, and cuz I love this song but Im not sure about meaning... Well, I think the first eight verses are about someone who cant writte down something he wants... or maybe he's run out of ideias: "No ink left in the bottle" But most of all I think song as whole is simply about world coming to an end, and that people still denie that, while the singer came to accept that as it is and thinks that its best just to simply die. my opinion ^^ |
