| Shout Out Louds – Impossible Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| As every school-age kid knows, even the most blissful of summers must come to an end in the fall. The relationship between the guy and the girl is soon to end, possibly because the girl has to leave. The guy knows this, and basically he's saying that he wants to focus on the "here and now" and not think about the future. He thought that the two of them would spend the rest of their lives together, but that's all coming to an end. Their love was so fleeting, he's saying it's "impossible", like it's impossible that he could have fallen in love so quickly and now it has to end. | |
| Katy Perry – Not Like the Movies Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I seriously thought this song was about sex too. I'm kind of relieved it isn't, especially with those first couple of lines in the song, I mean...WOW. Can we say "That's what she said" or what? | |

This song could easily be about how religous instituions are against pre-marital sex. Especially the part when she says "The institution curses curiosity". The instituion meaning the Church. I agree with the other meanings everyone in the comments has come with like gay rights and sex being seen as "taboo". No matter what your beliefs, this song really gives you something to think about in terms of what is excepted in our society, which makes it very powerful. |

| vapid isn't saying that all girls are stupid, just pointing out that this song could be about anyone, the meaning of this song is ambiguous. | |

I love this song soooooo much!! I will now interpret the lyrics. "Sappy pathetic little me That was the girl I used to be You had me on my knees" The girl was seriously upset about the ending of the relationship, she just moped around pathetically all the time. "I'd trade you places any day I'd never thought you could be that way But you looked like me on Sunday" The girl wished she could switch places with the boy, who seemed to be getting along just fine without her. She couldn't believe how heartless he was being. Then, one day everything changed. "Oh you came in with the breeze On Sunday morning You sure have changed since yesterday Without any warning I thought I knew you (whoa) I thought I knew you (whoa) I thought I knew you well... so well" One day, after the girl had finally moved on, he decided to pop back into her life. He seemed to have changed a lot since she saw him last. "You're trying my shoes on for a change They look so good but fit so strange Out of fashion, so I can't complain" The boy is now trying to get the girl back, they've switched places. He's the one moping around pathetically now. It kind of amuses the girl to see the karma, but it's also really weird to see him being the sappy one. "I know who I am, but who are you? You're not looking like you used to You're on the other side of the mirror So nothing's looking quite as clear Thank you for turning on the lights Thank you, now you're the parasite I didn't think you had it in you And now you're looking like I used to!" The girl has definately moved on and found herself again. She's making fun of the boy who now is acting exactly the way she did after the break up. Instead of acting like he's better off without her he's come crawling back acting like he wants her in his life. The girl sees right through this though. She realizes that he just wants her back because he can't find anyone better. She realized she's much better off without that scumbag. "Ooh on Sunday morning Without a warning Sunday morning I thought I knew you Sunday morning Ooh you want me badly Cannot have me" Basically she's saying "too bad loser, you missed out, kiss my *ss, etc." And that's why I love this song! It's very relatable, in my opinion :) |

I know this song is most likely about Gwen and Tony's relationship (most of Tragic Kingdom is exactly about that) but I feel like it very much applies to things that have happened in my family. "You're just like my Ken and Barbie doll You dress up, you play the game You're just like my Ken and Barbie doll Your name will never change" -This applies to how my parent's marriage was failing, yet they still pretended that everything was alright for a very long time, and how my mom's last name will "never change" from her married name. "I know you're waiting for your life to begin Well wake up girl you've got it all wrong You want a prize that you're not gonna win Oh face it girl you've got it all wrong" -This is basically what was going through my mind when I got older and saw everything that was going on. I became frustrated that they still had not tried to just flat out get a divorce, and had instead just been sitting around hoping things would get better and change. |
