I agree with npchong. Not necessarily on it being a question etc. On the face of it it's a really pretty song but deliberately tries, as is the trend, to bring negative or sinister connatations with words, to titillate. Not that there's anything bad about subverting a sweet sentiment but, in this case the singer HERE's clearly relying on the "just because I'm a man, I can use that make myself out to be a successful threat in some way" sort of trope. And in a way I wish bands didn't rely on sexist baggage to try and bring "edge" to songs. It doesn't bring aything and negates all the beauty it can potentially have. |
