For me, I got a sense of a much darker song... I got from the first verses that she was raped by the men in the market... and that the 'I hear violins' is her going into her "happy place" so she isn't hurt more than being raped. For the boy, I thought he was in the group but not involved in the rape, and that was why he was out of his head. Then he goes back and helps her. So, yeah.. much darker interpretation but that's what I got from it. |
