| Default – (Taking My) Life Away Lyrics

The second line of the lyrics listed here is wrong, which can lead to some confusion. It\'s actually "A leech to find".\n\nMy interpretation of the song is that the relationship just didn\'t turned out how this person envisioned or "dreamed", or that maybe what he dreamed was never the reality at hand. They\'re locked in a circle of hurting each other and they\'re withering away because of it. "They reach beside... a leech to find". Basically they emotionally reach out for each other, the one at their side, only to find that person sucking the life out of them. It\'s a mutual negative exchange but it doesn\'t make it hurt any less. "Deep down it hides" is essentially talking about the true state of the relationship and it\'s inevitable end. Neither seems to want to say it, so it looms as it both continues "making life a grind" on a daily basis and building resentment as evident by the lines "No I don\'t hate, but these thoughts won\'t go away". As he says, he doesn\'t hate her but being locked in an unhappy relationship has generated negative emotions like anger and frustration that he doesn\'t want to feel for her and he can\'t shake them. He\'s still hung up on an image of the one he fell in love with and that\'s the person he hopes he dreams of, not necessarily the reality in front of him, as this situation sucks the life out of him. |

"On the last album we split the acoustic side and the electric side into two albums. Here, we've split it into one song. This is about reawakening after becoming a father. Anyone who's a father understands how the world becomes a different place when your child is born. I just feel and see everything differently now." -Dave Grohl |

| Seal – Waiting For You Lyrics

When his fourth album came out Seal did an interview for VH1 describing all the songs. When he got to this one he said that you could ask him what any other song meant but this one. Seal claimed that when the music played he sang the lyrics that we hear on this track with no thought to their meaning. Basically, it means whatever it means to you. |

I think urasaisaru's answer's is closer to the meaning than Rager's but there's a little more to it than unrequited love. It's also about being pushed to a point where you're fed up and no matter how much you love the other person, you just can't stand being pushed away in the relationship anymore. It may have once been good but you've tolerated more cold loneliness and indifference than you can handle and you've got to leave... before you get dragged down any further. |
