| @[theprynce:35805] I agree. But I'm also wondering about the reference to "wailing" in the lyricss. I recall the Kingston Trio in the song "Greenback Dollar" singing "A wailing songand a good guitar, The only things that I understand." What is the definition of a "wailing song? Anybody know? | |

I think shikonaori is mostly on the right track with the meaning of this song. Sure it may be just about drugs but check this out: "riding a camel with big eyes" - The camel is the "ship of the desert", it's feet are perfectly adapted for traveling over sand. So the "camel" of the song is a vehicle for traveling over sandy soil, like a beach - a dune buggy, SUV, or ATV - and the "big eyes" are the headlights. "A black cat crosses my path" - in America, black cats are considered bad luck, but not so in many Asian cultures - a black cat is considered lucky. So the song is upbeat. "A woman in the moon is singing to the earth" - almost certainly refers to the Music of the Spheres, an ancient belief that the moon and planets are physically arranged in positions that conform to music, and even emit certain vibrations, which humans can hear under ideal conditions - like maybe a quiet evening on an island. Yeah, that's all nonsense, but hey, it's just a song. But good poetry. |
