I think this is a good interpretation. There's a little bit more to it, but I don't think Mumford is "clearly against premarital sex", that is not what those quoted lyrics from White Blank Page spell out. Mum7Son is too easily associating premarital sex with being "unclean" before the king. I think Marcus is definitely talking about a primarily physical relationship here, and the songwriter's perspective is one that wants more; he wants a full relationship with the woman he's involved with. |

| Oh, Sleeper – The Marriage Of Steel And Skin Lyrics | 13 years ago |

I think this song is meant to branch farther than just dealing with justice for rape victims. At this point in the album, the priest and many on Earth feel deserted by God and therefore there is no "judge" to punish the criminals. "Blood for the blood you spilt", that is the only way in which humans know how to punish people. Crime here is going unpunished, and the the people left on Earth will "stand by the fires of the victims left to die" by pursuing and killing the wrongdoers. |

| Oh, Sleeper – Children of Fire Lyrics | 13 years ago |

At the beginning of this album, the man (the protagonist of the first half of this concept album), is losing his faith in Endseeker because God defeats Satan and then vanishes. Throughout the progression of the album, the daughter has found her Faith as her father has lost his. Though the second half of the album is a struggle and a journey for the daughter to find her faith, this is the culmination of everything for her. She is confident and assured of her identity as one of God's children. She is now waiting for the second coming of God and is ready to be called to Heaven. "I see you, tattered and bruised You're the only ones who remain true I hear your call, through the thick of it all You've waited so long for the rescue" ~To me it seems as though a lot of clean vocals (Shane's voice) throughout songs that also have screaming in them are intended to be God speaking to the person, or to the people, and Micah's harsh vocals are spoken from the protagonists of the song (ex: Charlatan's Song, Reveries of Flight, and more songs if you look for them). God knows that His children have been waiting for His second coming, and the true believers are those who have stood firm, The Children of Fire. "And what this sin feels like having on my skin Cuz finally I am free to never breathe again My body lives through the ground I was rooted in I pass the spark as it reaches to the rest of them" The daughter has been taken by God and has now seen what is like to be pure of Earthly sin and the trouble that mortal life brings. She is now eternal and one with the ground she was rooted in, and is a a part of God's eternal reward, Heaven. *This is just my take on it, I can't speak for Micah and Shane, but I like to think this is their idea. They write great poetry with their music. Hope this helped anyone :) |

| Haste the Day – Merit for Sadness Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I believe this song is all about the trials we go through in life, and how they can put us down and we feel hopeless at times, but the strong of Faith know that God rewards those who endure. God allows us to experience happiness but he also allows us to feel sadness, but we know it won't last forever. God's hand keeps us afloat when the waters are at their highest. And it's not a matter of Him letting go, it's a matter of us keeping Faith and never letting go of Him. "I know you're here so I'll hold on and won't let go. I won't let go, I won't let go!" Beautiful song, beautiful lyrics, inspiring as HTD always is. I wish they got more acclaim for their work. |

I just want to say I completely agree and appreciate all above replies, I find TREMENDOUS value and inspiration in this song and your interpretations definitely hold true to what I think. Chiefsmack (haha) in response to the "place where most deny", I think it's talking about a time in your life when you're "breathing in, in the place that most deny", that's referring to a very low point, or a literal "Hell on Earth" point in someone's life, when you just feel like it can't get any worse. That's where Satan is trying to keep us, trying to make us feel worthless and that we aren't strong, but we as people of Faith know that to be untrue.. Where you are at your lowest, with God's reassurance and strength in you, "you are strong enough" and you can "make it back in time". Very emotional and inspirational to me, just my take on it. I hope I did a good enough job explaining where I am coming from there. |

| Funeral for a Friend – Old Hymns Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I think the lyrics are fairly self-explanatory, but my take on it is that it's about a couple, where they're obviously falling apart, and for the first part of the song it's just about thinking "what the hell happened?". The one person maybe feels the other is more to blame, in that they just lost interest in the relationship. "I used to mean something to you, but now I'm tired and alone" "Stop thinking, start making sense to me" - The one person is thinking too much and not communicating well with the other, and is consequently losing interest in the relationship from the indecision. |

| We Came As Romans – Intentions (feat. Telle) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Love WCAR, just bugs me that they get labeled as Christian, BY christians because most of them are too pompous to believe that anybody BUT a christian could relay meaningful, beautiful, and encouraging lyrics. I'm a christian myself, but I know these guys aren't from reading interview material and such, they're just good dudes with good heads on their shoulders, and great hearts within. | |
