I've been told I have an eclectic taste in music. I appreciate what I find captivating, original, or just plain catchy.

Boy adores girl. Boy is friend-zoned. Boy defaults to the behavior and approach of the horned masses.

I first heard this song hungover on a road trip to sight-see across Iceland.
Its been a worm in my ear since.
I think the song is about the relationship between a star and their supporting sources. Slave to the ratings, reviews... Slave to the radio. Slave to the critics and the system. So much so that said celeb is equivalently fellating for pay.

Thee Oh Sees – Minotaur Lyrics 3 years ago
I worked from home for over two years, and have now been forced back into the office under false pretenses. So now I sit there, with a respirator on, feeling like this is a further-from and not a furtherment of anything I want out of life. Even if I'm paid, it sucks. Maybe it doesn't matter as much as I've self-instilled, even aside from the adversity of a pandemic.
I sit there and think to myself, "this isn't living."

The Dandy Warhols – Plan A Lyrics 3 years ago
I\'ve recently gone through something akin to the stages of grief, over what we call recycling. I also spent the first two years of the pandemic watching polar-opposite mainstream media back-n-forth because we have dismantled the discovery, reporting, and dissemination of truthful news (at least in the States) and it takes consuming bs from both sides to discern truth. \n\nSo to me, in this moment, (is that implied, everyone posts with such absolute regard) what this song means:\n\nEveryone is so absorbed in the pagentry and programming in life that we can\'t even recognize. Could be politics, maybe our outward personas, I don\'t prescribe and it\'s whatever it may be, but whatever, it results in these rote responses and virtuous opinions that we all sing or sing in reply to. That\'s not life...\n\nBecause whatever that is has raped the planet- for commercial gain, for our unbalanced "needs", for whatever. It\'s not a partisan topic for debate, it\'s a goddamn existential threat to the survival of our goddamn species, and it should be at the forefront of the mind in anyone made aware even to the slightest incling... But then that pagentry cranks up the volume and ????la-dee-da???? isn\'t focusing on the contrivances an addicting escape from the unending and extremely rational existential dread? \n\nWe\'re not doing a goddamn thing. We just keep expiring through life, one person after another, all the while vilifying and demonizing intellect truth science and knowledge. So like, as one of those people that feels capable and empowered yet cognizant enough to clearly see there is no societal inertia to save ourselves... Can we just get far enough along in my lifetime to allow my concentrated will and capabilities to physically flee this dying planet, with like-willed capable individuals, and yall just keep whistling about the course of Plan A?

Sounds like a young adult having strife reconciling the reality on the ground from the expectations they just took for granted and failed to come close to.

Love it. Beautiful.
The Silver Bridge bit though- reference to this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Bridge

My take is, along with the squinting, if we're ignorant to the glaringly obvious pains and injustice we are easily presented with.... no one is dying, going to jail, and we won't realize life is too complicated to not fail and experience our own pain... The ignorance of innocence is beautiful and conversely a tragedy to those in the know.

Cars, cars, CARS. Of the fast variety, with a massive displacement. This is about drag racing, and teetering on the edge of control over something so powerful that a belief in full control would be insane.

K.Flay – So Fast, So Maybe Lyrics 8 years ago
How has nobody commented on this!? I love rock, first and foremost, but K.Flay is my new digs when I am in the flow. Lyricism is great, and if she recorded this track in one take I would be amazed. That would be impressive-hot AF.

Seems to be about a 'normal' couple. The guy goes into 'flakey' mode, and becomes distant; getting high to avoid and check out because he can't handle talking about stuff let alone respond to her leaning in. She leaned in, and was left hanging. He's defensive, whining that everything has moved quickly, and just generally being evasive- he doesn't know what he wants. His waffling makes her seem like she has her stuff together and he comes off so beta it's like he's playing he is being preyed on. That act is too much, and she realizes she has enough of her own stuff to handle, and there isn't enough time in life worth wasting on this fool. It sucks, but she'll persevere. Most people will- just keep saying everything is great.

The fan video [https://youtu.be/Q9TQqLq_iBs] is spectacular. Great song. Very similar beats to "...Whiskey Bar" by The Doors, but much more playful sounding.

Irma Thomas – Anyone Who Knows What Love Is (Will Understand) Lyrics 10 years ago
Sometimes the hardest thing about love, especially love lost, is the partitioned and cozzie warmth of being or having been in it- something hard to disassociate from the person and relationship that brought it all about.

The Rapture – Pieces of the People We Love Lyrics 10 years ago
Seems like the natural progression of an initially lustful, but deeply connected relationship. There is a strong, magnetic, attraction, and little things from each partner brush off or are willfully imposed and stick to the other. The relationship ends after the realization and disillusionment phases, but they have accrued lingering 'pieces', that are meaningful and may draw reflection on the relationship, from the other person.
Just think of your past relationships- the pieces of expanded appreciation for something- art, music, movies, hobbies, whatever have you that you gained as a 'take-away' and a lasting piece of the relationship and the other person that had been in it with you.

Goldfrapp – Utopia Lyrics 11 years ago
This a cynical view, or misinterpretation, of H+. If interpreted as such...

On the non-human side, and more aligned with some of the lyrics; my aging but beloved dog was sitting faithfully (curled up) next to me when I first heard this. I thought of a time when I may see this companion ailing and myself championing for their continued existence and wanting anything and everything to sustain our relationship: That an innocent life of a canine, overall devoid of anything but loyalty love and obedience, is purely deserving of intervention toward relief and continuance, and not endeavoring in this pursuit is tantamount to some form of crime...

If interpreting in the context of multiplicative cloning; however, I completely agree with the result being a biologically implemented fascism- where any one entity is not disguisable from another. A world where seeing a 'newborn' baby elicits no response or feeling other than possibly a shock to the core that something is abhorrently out of sorts from nature and wrong.

Cage the Elephant – Come a Little Closer Lyrics 12 years ago
I am wondering if it wasn't a live appearance on Letterman or some other show...maybe even the leaked studio excerpt.
I STRONGLY (not a strong enough word for it) dislike country, so I don't think it would have been the original or any covers that didn't stray from the original's genre. Not the Cure- but thanks for looking into it. I think it has to be a versioning issue..... differences in "strongness" normally come from mixing or acoustics (live/studio).

The first time I heard this song on the radio, I swear I had heard it before, but with a much strong/impactful chorus.... anyone know what song I may have been remembering?
