The guy speaking sounds like someone violent who beats up his girlfriend ('I strap up my boots and then I kick in the door...(So how were you to know)'). Often they feel really sorry afterwards but still keep doing it. So that's why he says: 'I know what I've done but I'll be coming for more..(I think you Ought to know)' and then: 'Stay, the hell/ Away from me/ Cos I did you wrong / I'm begging you leave' He knows he's going to repeat the pattern and he's telling her to leave for her own safety. If you combine this reading with the soaring emotions of the singer it all makes sense... What a powerful song! |
