I think you should look into that more. From listening to them for many years I think they bash organized religion and challenge personal faith. Christianity is most likely what they know and grew up around. It is the easiest religion to write about critically. I think many songs they write are about questioning ones personal beliefs, which applies to the faithful anf faithless. They stress the individual's beliefs as important and frown upon religion (a collective belief). Shouldn't you, as a Christian, always be questioning your faith? Personally, I see a lot of their music as encouraging their fans to be critical to the world around, question everything and take action. This applies regardless of the particualr theme. |
