| Rachael Cantu – Devil's Thunder Lyrics

This song is about getting to a point in your life where you can no longer ignore how far from your principles you've wandered. It starts with a simple impetus- revenge or a bit of money. But then it goes so far as to make you wonder where it became so bad, when you started to need someone to throw you some water to make you more comfortable in your trip to the Devil. But I think there's also a feeling that it's reversible, if you only realize soon enough. |

| Jekyll & Hyde – Someone Like You Lyrics

This is a great expression of what so many songs address- finding someone to love. We think about what our "types" are, or what we want in a lover, so essentially we just speculate on what would happen if "someone like you found someone like me". Beautiful song. |

I think she's talking about trying to find a way to get to sleep, but her imagination won't stop "chasing pirates" and thinking silly thoughts. It's a simple song for a simple topic. |

| Jason Mraz – Did I Fool Ya? Lyrics

I think that Jason is saying that everyone's so sure of what they know and how people fit into neat little boxes, but they end up fooled. That's the reason for the intro verse. "I can't read between the things unseen" means that he can't judge others based on what he doesn't know. |

I love how she refers to God as "she"! The entire song is an interesting comment on the double standards and intricacies we place over ourselves while trying to find what we want and keep what we have. |

They also received threats when they announced her pregnancy and the birth of their child. I think she's taking her personal experience and making a statement about the privacy of relationships, whether they be interracial, homosexual, or just disapproved of. I think that's why she includes "the city wants to fight but it can't touch us anymore". Just because people don't like the fact that she's white and he's black doesn't erase the fact that they love each other. |

This song does an amazing job of capturing the emotions of a person caring for someone with Alzheimer's. My grandmother has it, and emotionally it's much worse for my grandfather and her children than it is for her, because, as the song says, they have to "carry it on and let [her] forget". |

| Billie Holiday – Strange Fruit Lyrics

I found this song while looking up others by Billie Holiday and fell in love. It made my stomach ache to feel the song. There's a really good book of sheet music called "Taboo Songs" that contains the music for "Strange Fruit". I would highly suggest playing it. |

| Céline Dion – Surprise Surprise Lyrics

I think that these lyrics are about someone who can't let anyone get close to her (or him), so anytime someone thinks they've gotten close, they've "barely even broke the ice". The subject of the song gets accused of "playing games", but really is just trying to protect her- or himself. |
