Well, in the beginning of the song, Michael says: "Boy, is that girl with you? Yes, we're one and the same. . . If you're thinking about my baby it don't matter if you're black or white. . ." I kind of grasped here that he went out with his baby, which in this case is his girl, who may have been opposite color than he, and someone asks him: "Hey, man. Is that girl with YOU?" And he replies: "Yes, we;re one and the same." So there he's saying: "Even though she's a different color than me, I can still feel strongly about her and she can still be my girl." As for the chorus, though it may have some deeper meanings, I think when he says: "If you're thinking about my baby, it don't matter if you're black or white." He means that his baby could be blue, and he would still love her, so he's telling anyone who thinks differently to back off. And to tie in with the central message of the song, he's saying that he's colorblind, and he loves his baby just the same, so it doesn't matter anyone's skin color, we're all human. Hence him saying: "It don't matter if you're black or white." Hope this helps! Rest in peace, Michael! |

You are an evil genius! Wow, you went way deeper than I thought possible, but then again everyone has a story and Michael was just trying to portray that we're all human, we all deserve respect, we can all work hard. It's hard to own up to what you have stated there, my friend. I think you really have gotten this down. But I do have a question: What does Michael mean when he says: "They print my message in the Saturday sun. . ." I'm kind of grasping that he means he's trying to expalin to every part of the world that color doesn't matter, but I don't know all of the facts and "Saturday sun" doesn't really make sense to me. Anyway, great song, great review, great era, great man! Rest in peace, Michael! (By the way, to you haters out there, you'll probably yell at me for writing close to nothing ABOUT the song, but I just had to comment Mistvibe on their INCREDIBLE interpretation, so lay off, will ya?) |

Yes, I agree with Cori201, a Streetwalker, as defined by Dictionary.com, is a prostitue who walks the streets looking for "new customers." Isn't exactly the pretty picture Michael painted in my head, but that's just the literal term. Now, is Michael the Streetwalker? Or is he in love with a Streetwalker and doesn't want her to break up with him? Rest in Peace, Michael!! |
