might just be a huge metaphor comparing love and war. First verse is all about love but the chorus directly compares love to war saying "love is war" and talking about the front line and casualties in the minds of people just like there are on the battlefield and then talking about how people deal with the stress in the same way, drugs. and ALSO the incoming hit the dirt part relates it to war. just my opinion but i dont think its just about love seems too simple for doom. |
