I agree with the other posters, I just want to add that I think that it also has to do with losing trust in others, and becoming closed off from others. Both versions are AMAZING. |

"Fiction" is one of Jimmy's nicknames, he had it tattooed down the side of his torso. He once said in an interview, "My life is kind of like a story that if I told you you wouldn't believe. It would seem like fiction. That's me." (I'll try to find the interview to cite it later.) Just thought I'd throw that in there. I won't make assumptions that it was a suicide. Jimmy FoREVer. |

I, like most others, believe that this is about someone date-raping a girl, but also killing her, not just drugging her. I like that CeeLo uses his imagination in his songs, so you aren't just hearing about the same old thing that all the other artists sing about. And this isn't some soul-crushing screamo or depressing rap, this is an imaginative, creative way to sing about... necrophilia. :P I guess I'm saying that he has the ability to put a creative spin on very dark topics. Allow me to provide an example: in his song "Just A Thought", the lyrics "It's even dark in the daytime, it's not just good, it's great depression" and the very next line: "When I was lost I even found myself (pause), looking in the guns direction) I'm just saying, not many other artists do things like that. It makes his music enjoyable to listen to. Okay, that was a little longer than I thought it would be. But still. :) |
