I think the track listing of this song is very significant, as is the listing of Lucky You. It takes you on a journey of starting off lost in love and yearning for someone if you will and still by the end of the record Lucky You is telling a similar story "you own me, there's nothing you can do" is very similar to " if she knows you're paper you know she'll have to burn you" essentially saying that nothing changes in the end. Or at least that's my take on it. Absolutely wonderful song and a magnificent record as a whole. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The National are the best band on the planet right now. |

To me I think this song is simply about that "special someone" who is perfect as he or she is and not wanting them to ever encounter harm.
