To OrionOfKtulu: CHILL THE F.U.C.K OUT!!! There is a fine line between analysis and obsession..and you, my dull-witted friend, obviously see no meaning behind the importance of Zakk's message...or any song writer's for that matter...I analyze songs to grip their true meaning, hence the reason I joined this site..it is through searching for meaning that makes us humans the inquisitive bunch in the world..you are still a primate, good sir..
BTW..if you don't have something nice to say about art..well...go screw yourself..Merry Christmas and a Happy friggin' new year to ya too..

First of all, I must say...you don't know music like you think you do...this was one of the most inspiring and heart-felt songs by Zakk that I've I've come to know...Second of all, this song has a hidden meaning that I don't think any of you caught onto...I can understand this song being a tribute to Dime, but it's more than that..you see, The river is a symbol of struggle..it represents ones inability to toss away feelings and memories. I think the music video may be misleading to some because in it..Dime and Zakk were submerged in the river..Dime didn't come up, but Zakk came back as an adult..some might say this was a direct reference to Darrel's death, but the underlying message is that after a struggle, you can't just forget what has happened..you have to keep pressing on with the pain and memories..when Zakk torches the piano..it may appear as just a cool part of the video, but it stands for Zakk's willingness to throw away a past for a future..

Metallica – Hero of the Day Lyrics 14 years ago
I think that S&M has good versions and suck-ass versions of the original tracks..for example Master of Puppets was terrible on S&M. This song on the other hand was much better than the original..oh and Bleeding Me was absolutely flawless on Load.so there ya go..with that..and I personally think that this song tells a lot about the outside world and how much mother's don't realize how cruel it really is nowadays to their children. The lines"Keepers of the Flames Can't you hear your names?" I think represents drug dealers.
"Excuse me while I tend to how I feel
These things return to me that still seem real
Now, deservingly, this easy chair
But the rocking stopped by wheels of despair" This means that a person is going to go get his fix (tend to how I feel) the "wheels of despair" could be withdrawal or the pain you get after taking too much of something. "The window burns to light the way back home
A light that warms no matter where they've gone
They're off to find the hero of the day
But what if they should fall by someone's wicked way? These lines mean that the narrator feels welcome to his house no matter what he has done yet he goes to find a way to support himself. While out in the world, he says that he could "fall to someone's wicked ways" drug dealing and such. "But now the dreams and waking screams
That ever last the night
So build the wall, behind it crawl
And hide until it's light
So can you hear your babies crying now? These lines are telling of how when you are on some sort of drug, you usually sleep it off sometimes with a side of depression because of over analyzing how bad things are. yep so there ya go my thoughts on this song.Hope it was enlightening..

Gordon Lightfoot – Sundown Lyrics 14 years ago
Very enlightening..it is art..it is truth..what we make of it is not truth, but our own realities...And realities are as numerous as there are minds...yet I must ask you good sir, if one does not delve into a mine, how will he know gold lies within? To examine a song, is to find the gold within each piece of music.

Gordon Lightfoot – If You Could Read My Mind Lyrics 14 years ago
I think that this song really does remind me of my first relationship...Only I think of my ex as being the narrator in the song...cause she wondered why we weren't as close as we used to be.

Alice in Chains – Sludge Factory Lyrics 14 years ago
I think that anyone could take anything from this song...There doesn't really seem to be an obvious meaning behind the song. I think that most of you looked else where on some other site that said,"This is what the song, Sludge Factory is about.." I don't think that the heroin usage was anyone's original thoughts on the song unless by some chance you already knew what the song's meaning was before you even watched it or knew about the biography of the band members..
