To me this song is about getting past all the fake shit in life, that is actually quite hard to get past. The first half is about sexual urges and putting up with relationship bullshit just to satiate them. You can muscle past the fake posturing but wouldn't it be great if we just didn't have to? The second half is a different idea but connected to the first. It covers social and communal urges in humans, and putting up with being pulled around this way and that (politically, really. "One more turn towards the east") just to satiate those. Again, being in a society or a community is great, but we have to deal with all the extra bullshit that isn't strictly neccessary. The main concept is tied up in a neat little bow by the play between "Get Off" as in orgasm and "Get Off" as in exiting or leaving something. |
