I think this song is about moving forward from past mistakes or regrets. It is a waste of time to dwell in the past and spend time "trying to make sense of it all," especially when you have the present moment by the side of someone you love. To me this song could be about a couple who broke up and got back together. By breaking up they realize how fragile love can be. This is a scary thing to acknowledge because initially it is comforting to believe that one's relationship is "unbreakable." But once it is broken, the new reality for the couple is that love is fragile and needs to be nurtured. When my boyfriend and I got back together after breaking up for a few months we spent months trying to figure out the endless details about what happened, why we broke up, exc. Truth be told, all we really cared about was knowing what these lyrics say: "All that I'm asking for Is that you need nothing more And nothing comes in between Our love and its fragile scene All that I'm asking for" |
