I beg to differ about it calling out Christianity. I actually think that they make reference to a Bible verse. "It makes you wonder If shooting for stars is like darts in the dark It makes you wonder If the beaten path is the promised land" "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. - Matthew 7:13 "The right of way is a wild goose chase" I think this makes reference to how there are a lot of distractions and temptations along the road of Christianity that can lead you astray. And a "stick in the mud," is a phrase that means someone is unwilling or slow. He could be saying that he is stubborn to change his ways for a particular faith This song sounds like it would be the song of someone first considering following Christianity that has doubts. |
