| Underoath – Who Will Guard the Guardians? Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I agree with all of you saying he's talking about a higher power and someone/something looking out for their own good. I believe he's talking about the church though. I know this is gonna piss a lot of people off, but Underoath isn't the same band they were when They're Only Chasing Safety came out. Half the band questions their faith while the other half is still devoted to Christianity. Look in to it. I know there is interviews out there where both Grant and Spencer talk about it. And I'm pretty sure this entire album is about Spencer questioning Christianity and the church. |

This song, along with most of this cd, is about him struggling with the thought of not being a Christian anymore and seeing the flaws in the church. He was brought up into Christianity so he followed it blindly. Kinda seeing it for what it is and basing his own opinion on it instead of being told what to believe. "It's the awakening of my bodies inner consciousness. A fraction of my sleepless, numb existence." There's interviews of him talking about this. I'm pretty sure the line "Let's get something straight: I am not, no I am not who you made me out to be" is directly towards the church as well. |
