Yeah, meatshake got it right, student kills abusive nun that beats children. Pretty much Gavin ended her because he decided that she was too much of a cause of misery to be left alive. Messed up song :/ |

Well to me, futz means "do whatever while I'm gone", and that's exactly what they did, and they did everything except what they expected Julie to do ( get fuel). And they maintain hope that Julie is gonna come back with fuel (even though she probrably isn't). Symbolic to me that you shouldn't leave 100% faith on one person to do one crucial thing or you're gonna be right back where you started in the very beginning (on a dark and isolated planetoid with a rocketship completely out of fuel). Always have a backup plan in life. |

Yeah, definitely love-hate relationship, with some possible cutting. To me, sounds like a dude who really likes a chick, but she keeps possibly doing bad crap like cutting to herself, and treats him like crap, and he hates her for it, but he is still hopelessly in love with her. It's definitely a sad song. |

I agree with Pyropunk. It does sound like it's about the people who think that their way is best, which can often be insensitive. For example, a friend of mine one time came to school bawling, and when I talked to her, she explained (after a while) that her freind, somewhere else in the U.S. got shot by some freak. Some other teenager came up and started preaching to her about god and how her prayers would be for my friend's freind. Sometimes people don't want to hear that; the best thing at some times is what is right before your eyes, and what appeals to complete, earthly logic. |

It sounds to me like a dude/girl who's had enough of whatever crap he's/she's had in his/her life that's bugging him/her and it seems like it's just not ending and he/she is gonna do something about it whether through violence, drinking, self mutilation (cutting or other things), or suicide. Either way, they're tired of it and they're not gonna go out and face it head on ("never stop running"). It's a sad song that has all too much basis in reality. I've known several people who have decided to cut themselves including my sister, and at one time I was hitting myself with hammers (I decided that scars and scabs were too obvious, body pain could be anything, not necciarily self-harm. Logic of a depressed person). It doesn't really cause anything bad, this music, it simply tells a story of misfortune. No more evil than Dateline NBC. |

To me, this song is talking about a lack of unity that is pretty common in the world. It sounds sarcastically written in the point of veiw of a group of people who like to control other people through fear and violence, which will work until, well, it doesn't ("day in the sun is gonna stop, walls come tumbling down"). Could be anything, a gang, a group of bulies, a country, either way, it's a nasty group that will eventually be brought down by its own ways. |

Yah ,this song is definetly one of their greatest hits, along with "hammerhead" and "fix you" from this album. Every album has had its greatest hits, "self- esteem", "gotta get away", "Come out and play", and "Bad Habit" from smash, " gone away" from Ixnay On the Hombre, "Pretty fly (for a white guy", "The kids aren't alright" from Americana, "want you bad" and "original pranster" from Conspiracy of one". I Wish they would have included the album titled songs in Their greatest hits CD, and some of the other cool songs. Their was a lot of cool songs, that are kinda not thought about. |

Yah, agree it's about manipulating, disagree with the abuse of power thing. I'ts written in the point of view of the victim, so when the song (the victim) says "dance, fucker, dance" its saying dodge this. I really believe that means the manipulator is having a fall from grace, and you can't dodge the truth about you. Agree perfectly on "see them running for their lives". "take him out today" means getting rid of someone causing you trouble, and "nice work you did, you're gonna go far, kid" is saying, "you're pretty fucking good at this". |

There's a lot of people who say this song is about shooting, which I don't really see. It sounds more to me like a song about a manipulators far from grace. The entire first verse is about turning it against someone (literally, "turning it all against someone, is an art that's hard to teach"). 2nd verse "Slowly out of line, and drifting closer in your sights" the point of veiw for the song is about to become a victim. The chorus "dance, fucker, dance, man he/I never had a chance, and noone really knew, it was really only you" , sounds like it's all coming back to him and the victim's are releasing the truth. "dance, fucker, dance" is not meaning they're shooting at his feet, in this song it means "dodge this, fucker" because you can't really dodge the truth. The music video for the song (i suggest you get on youtube or The Offspring's website and watch it) shows a guy using peoples loss to make his living. AT the end of the song the one who gave him the power to take from people, takes it all away from him. Similar to what the songs lyric's are about. |
