I see a lot of Ian Curtis in Geoff Rickly. Other than how much he's referenced Ian and Joy Division. He's a very intense, emotional singer with a very funny sense of humor that kind've covers that part of his personality up. He inspires intense devotion among fans.(in the early days he was like a therapist to a thousand 'scene kids' all over the country) He's in a highly influential band, but they're not that commercially successful. He's had health issues (stomach problems, epilepsy) He fell in love with a foreign woman (though Geoff wasn't already married) I just hope that Geoff doesn't end up like Ian. Trading his waking, breathing life to become a mythical icon. He has so much talent and he's so eloquent, it's a shame they aren't making the kind of money that bands that they influenced heavily (and even helped bring to prominence in some cases, MCR, anyone?) are. I wish him all the best in his personal and professional life. |

It's about complications within Geoff's marriage. "It's been eight years if it's been a day" He and his wife met on Warped Tour a little over eight years ago. "You share a family but you don't share a name. Some things run deeper than blood." That's self-explanatory. "No answers when you're not around." The strain put on them when he goes off to tour and she stays in NY to work and such, since Thursday don't make enough money for her to travel around with them all the time. Hell, Geoff has a normal job in addition to working in Thursday. This albums lyrics are the most personal since, 'Waiting' I wouldn't be surprised if in ten years' time he won't sing anything from this album like he won't sing anything from 'Waiting' these days. |
