Nick Drake – Things Behind the Sun Lyrics 14 years ago
For me, this superb song is about honesty, humility and our place that we have, or haven't chosen in life. I get the impression from his lyrics that he didn't suffer fools! Like several of Nick's works there seems (to me anyway) to be good advice shouting out to us all, maybe this was part of why Nick was so depressed, he perhaps thought no-one was heeding it.
I think he was such a humble man, grateful for his upbringing and even moreso for his talent, to the point where he felt a little guilty about his lot.
He obviously loved nature and the elements... the moon, sun, wind and rain take centre stage in many of his songs, he sings so eloquently about them all.
One thing is for certain, I love this song along with River Man, Fruit tree, Day is done and Parasite, to name but a few.

Nick Drake – Do You Ever Remember? Lyrics 14 years ago
I would love to think that Molly wrote this fabulous song! Even more than that, I really want her to have written it after Nick died. It's a totally haunting, old fashioned masterpiece....poignant if written before Nick passed away, but unbelievably poignant if written afterwards. It's one of those songs that comes to life with headphones on, you can literally feel Molly's pain and anguish.
'Do you ever remember?
Now you are so far away.' She then goes on to recall all the fun Nick had when he was a young lad,
'before it all went so wrong'
The second verse is remarkable, she says how time was so short for Nick, yet time has healed the grief she feels. Nick was an amazing artist with a tortured life, but he had an amazingly courageous and understanding family. Molly must be so proud.
