With irises of jade are built to persuade and they're swift like a switchblade. Here the writer is drawing confidence from the fact that she looked briefly at him. |

I think this song is about 4 People. The Narrator (unnamed), The Father (unnamed), The Child (Isadore) and the Mother (Erica). The story goes that eventually they came to a point that the father had to choose one of two to save, Erica or Isadore. This can be seen from the reference to them only having one parachute (Lifeline) on the Balloon (Pregnancy). Eventually Erica has to die. From the chorus we can see the father's attitude towards Erica. It's not who you were (Pre-Pregnancy) It's who you are (Pregnancy) Here we can see that He views his Child (Isadore) and his wife (Erica) as one entity. Therefore when he says "I won't rest, untill the world knows the name Isadore." He is also proclaiming his love for Erica. |
