I don't think none of y'all are sober because I hear no screaming/whispering after the "trust me" part.
What I do think however, is everyone can take their own meaning from a song. Although Maynard already specified this is about a friend, what I take from this is having a life that is full of guilt and pain, and the only way to get rid of that pain is to drown it out with alcohol and drugs...and just black it all out until the next life comes, whatever it may be. I think some of you are reading between the lines too much, which is a lot to say for a Tool song, I know. One thing I can tell you is never try to connect the music videos with the lyrics, you're wasting your time. |

the only thing is that axl didnt write this song, Izzy Stradlin did, and slash helped, yes axl was an addict, but do you really think axl would let velvet revolver perform this song as well? lol |

i used to think this song was about heroin as well, as far as what sugarmagik said, there are alot of songs that are about drugs but are hidden with metaphors and whatnot. I have a past with that drug and i can sense that heroin was in their thoughts when coming up with this song, Oh Pea explains it well |
