Don't even be a bitch tryna' make it seem like Jay-Z isn't talking about girls when he says bitches; if he weren't then he wouldn't have said "if you have girl problems, I feel bad for you, son." What he's saying is that he has all kinds of actually important problems that's he's not going to waste his time worrying about some stupid bitch or nothin'. There's actually important things that he has to worry about. |

Actually, now that I've listened to this song again (as in over and over :) ), it almost sounds as if he's singing to someone who he calls "my sweet prince" who sort of got him over his addiction to drugs. Because he said "never thought all this would backfire" then "close up the hole in my vein" which sounds like he was shooting up, but now closing up the hole, as if he's stopped. So to me it sounds as if he's realizing that he loves this person (who I'm assuming is a guy by the usage of prince) more than the drugs that he used to be taking. Also he says "never thought you'd fuck with my brain" and why would be saying that about drugs, since really that's exactly what drugs do: fuck with your brain? and also he says "never thought I'd have to abstain," like maybe abstain from the drugs he was taking because of this new person that he met who he realizing is more valuable to him than drugs. I don't know for sure, of course, but it's just my interpretation of it. |

PoizonComeUndone, that's how I interpretted the lyrics the first time I heard it too, I still think that's what the song is supposed to mean. Apparently some people are saying it had something to do with an obbssessive ex-girlfriend who killed herself or something. But still, I like the idea that it's to another guy better, and it makes more sense that way. |
