he wants the person he loves to love him and not those that dont want that person anymore. that itself is sad because although the person may succumb to the speaker, the speaker will always be the second choice. he's degrading himself just to achieve the 'love' or attention of someone that doesn't care about him. |

this song is about love/friendship with someone that doesn't understand/doesn't care about the writer as much as the writer does about that someone. 'you grow me like an evergreen, you've never seen the lonely me at all' is saying 'you only see the happy me, you only want to see this side of me, you've never seen me lonely or sad' although his/her lover/friend isn't the right person for them, the writer loves them and cannot live without them. that's what the song is about. to me, anyways. |
