| Hole – Asking For It Lyrics

People who say she killed him are another example of society blaming women for things. When the Beatles broke up, they blamed Yoko Ono. When Bill Clinton cheated on his wife, they blamed Hilary and Monica. When Kurt Cobain killed himself, they blamed Courtney. I have a friend whose husband recently took his own life as well and people are blaming his wife. They need a scapegoat, and women are it. |

| Poe – Angry Johnny Lyrics

This isn't an angry chick song. The "killing" in this song is not the murderous kind. She doesn't want to kill Johnny, she wants to kill the rage in him and heal him of his anger. She says "I want to kill you; I want to blow you away". The blowing away means she wants to surprise Johnny (a name she chose because it's the cliché American name), not blow him away with a gun. |

Are you sure about that? I read from songfacts that the character in the book was based on this song, not the other way around. |

| Tears for Fears – Everybody Wants to Rule the World Lyrics

I don't think it's quite about the desire to rule the entire world, but just part of the world, merely the desire to control something that isn't within your control, be it mother nature or another person or just fate. |

I think it's about how conservative men view women they deem as "sluts" and how they act like they're so much better than those women, when in reality they are obsessed with them and are more perverted than they let on. |

Despite what the title implies, this is not a song about a couple in love. According to Gary Bonner, who wrote the song with Alan Gordon, the song is about unrequited love. Our desperate singer wants the girl to "Imagine how the world could be so very fine," proposing what would happen "If I should call you up." The line in the fadeout, "How is the weather?" is when he realizes they will never be more than passing acquaintances, and he resorts to small talk to keep from bursting into tears.

| Dir En Grey – Mazohyst Of Decadence (English) Lyrics

On second thought, after going through the lyrics again with a closer look, at least he acknowledges that abortion oftentimes IS the loving thing to do. Still, as a clinic escort, I hear stuff like this every day from men who resort to emotional manipulation to scare women into giving birth. They say precisely the same stuff said in this song and scream it at these 15-year-old girls going into the clinic, sometimes with their mothers, sometimes with boyfriends, and sometimes sadly, completely alone until I come up and hold their hand. Maybe I'm biased because of what I see every day in the United States what with the constant attack on women's rights and all. |

| The Birthday Massacre – Control Lyrics

I think this song is about how Chibi broke into the business and how she left her old life behind and is now a rising star, but no one really cares about who she is and her hopes and desires. This leaves her cold and indifferent herself; the coldness of the business has rubbed off on her and she is now one of them. |

I think this is a really good interpretation. However, one part I must give my opinion on. The "a second of affection" line, I think would refer to a random one-night stand she/they would have here and there; a meaningless "second of affection" with a nameless person. It happens a lot when people go on tour. |
