Maybe it has something to do with taking a simple pure relationship like a friendship and complicating it with love. That's why he says that they were given a flower but there was no pleasing them, because they couldn't accept that they had a good thing and had to complicate it. If this is about his altercation with Jason Stollsteimer I don't see where the orchids would fit in unless that it was a rough meaning that Jason and Jim Diamond couldn't just let the production thing go. The video does end with a horse hovering over someone about to stomp on them, which could relate to Jack hovering over Jason as he hit him repeatedly. This could also mean taking a pure thing and making it fake, because most blue orchids are actually counterfit taking a white orchid and adding blue food dye. In that case Jack is calling them liars. |

Actually I think Jack would frown on EMO people in the new sense of the term, he seems to dislike those that just complain and cry all the time. EMO actually wasn't always seen as sad depressed people, just emotional music, angry, frustrated whatever, now emo seems to be "look how sad I am". |

I agree, a lot of his lyrics are pretty blunt. I think this is why I like his songs so much, he doesn't waste time beating around the bush, he is up front even if the lyrics are a little harsh. |

This is a hard one, although it shouldn't be. I think this song may relate to Jacks life but maybe not, since it talks about a vodoo doll and Jack grew up catholic. This song takes on a couple meanings though. It talks about a boy with a new brother, and how he felt about the baby. And it talks about how the family was judged by those that didn't know better. This may be because Jack was from a family of 9 and people may have criticized them for such a large family even though they have everything they need. |

This has got to be one of my favorite songs! I think that pooperscooper got it right, Jack is saying that the girl should just have faith, and stop worrying about every little thing like side effects, negative reactions or what ever. The girl in the song probrobly is making excuses of why she wont take the medicine. In my personal opinion this is referring to headaches, but could really about a girl who has an issue like depression or anxiety, but wont seek help and keeps making excuses like I dont think it will help, or I heard bad things about medicine. |

Ok first off, to observer01, I think you are either reading a little deap into the song, or that was comming from personal experience. Either way I think you got off base. IMO, this is simply jack telling a girl, maybe Meg maybe not, that she thinks of love as doing anything you can to please another person. Like when he says that "its for someone elses benefit not for what you want to do" he's saying she does everything for others to the point that they end up walking all over her. Also when he says "I can see you man cant help but win any problems that may arise but in his mind there can be no sin if you never criticize you just keep on repeating all those empty "I love you's" He is stating that love isn't always telling someone what they want to hear, sometimes you need tough love and to tell someone like it is. This is a common thing with people of low self esteem, they are so afraid of disapointing others that they will do anything to please them. I have always seen Meg as someone with low self esteem, so I imagined that this song was for her.
