Another lyrics correction: At the end it's I, I I I I gonna set you right, I'm gonna find a way to your heart. HAHA so true gurl. I've been wondering myself, the song is so melancholic and beautiful... drifts you away. Hard to really interpret it without the exact lyrics which no1 seems to know, nowhere around the internet! Sounds of someone that is losing grip of someone else, they know they are losing grip and they know what it takes to keep him\her, but they just can't afford it or unable to do it because of a reason that is external to them. It could be about someone who's partner\family member has this horrible disease that costs a lot of money to treat\manage they can't afford, and they suffer a lot and want to let go, and it's killing the singer the feeling she doesn't have the money to keep up.... she is left alone, bored and tired. It also could be about love obviously. One sided love it seems- the singer is inlove with someone who doesn't love her the same way (maybe it's a friend), probably a wealthy friend that's class is much higher, and they just come from difference places and she can't keep up with what it takes to live in the same lifestyle he does and so they can't connect. |

Actually, it's: Say, I'm staying honey And I don't, I don't got the money (for sure, confirmed) In the live version she also doesn't pronounce K in Awake so it sounds like she's saying "I don't stay away for you" but it's hard to tell And also: I can't afford YOU it also fits better in the rest of the lyrics.... she pronounces it: I can't affor - d'you You can hear it clearly in the live versions she says I can't afford YOU, the best one is at the end of Blast House live version, she repeats it with no sounds. |

What beautiful lyrics and tragic wonderful music. This song, imo, can be interpreted both personally and globally. Seems to me that this song is about questioning the meaning of our existence in this world, and that despite the human kind might be destructive sometimes and focus on the non-important things (outshining the stars) instead of the "right" things (to be "wise enough" and to take care of what really matters, that is, not glory or money and the sort), there is still hope for each and every individual to try and make a difference for the better for as long as they live. |

I agree with nonomdeplume. I am a big placebo fan, but this song doesn't sound good to a point I felt a need to come here and post it. Funny, first time I find that their songs kind of "annoy" me because it just doesn't sound all that appealing. It's not that the music, lyrics or singing is bad each to is own, just that the overall thing seems out of place and unthoughtful \ not working well. |
