Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 14 years ago
It is a beautiful song without interpreting anything into it. This song is one of the top rock ballad songs of all times so you are in the minority. Just listening to the music which is great along with the tremendous voice of Plant and his soft unique tone -- he can really crank it up--It is awesome. Love Plant's voice! on others songs too including Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Kashmir, Lemon Song, Immigrant Song and on and on... They were ahead of their time using the blues influence of artists they admired and infusing power rock into it!

I find Sultan of Swing interpretations very interesting and I agree on the spiritual Christian view. I read a quote by Plant saying it was not all the weird meanings America tried to place on it... He has written other spiritually under toned songs as well. For one, "I Believe" in memory of his son that died.

I also agree that the backwards playing is crazy... Bottom line, don't believe the backward playing stuff as agree power of suggestion and people trying to find something evil about everything...

I have said before it is an AMAZING AWESOME song that we can enjoy just the way it was written and meant to be heard.

Ridiculous...You can hear what you want to hear or what someone makes you think it is saying by suggestion; however, the bottom line is it is an amazing awesome song!

So, let's just enjoy it the way it was written and meant to be heard!

By the way, "Paul is Dead too!" LOL

One more comment, all that glitters is not gold was used by Shakespeare...so there are many sources to draw from. It is just a saying or quote that fits with the song and it is an amazing song!!!

A bustle in your hedgerow: A hedgerow is a hedge that surrounds many estates in Britain.

Bustle, or noise or activity, used in this sense, means a disturbance close to home. Something's happening in your world!

It's just a spring clean for the May Queen.

Spring cleaning is an old domestic ritual cleaning meant to do away with the troubles of the past year and prepare for the coming year, and often includes disposing of old, useless things that have been lying around.

From what I have read from quotes is the song starts out about a cynical, materialistic woman that gets everything she wants without thought for anyone else or giving back in return...In my opinion, it goes on to say there is more to the story, you can't buy your way to heaven...I believe it is a spiritual song that tells us to care about others and not just ourselves, to follow the right piper. It relays how there is still time to change your path or ways and do the right thing.

The music was composed by Page and Jones and then they were amazed when Plant wrote the lyrics right there. After that, Page wanted Plant to write all their lyrics...

I agree this is a touching song to pay tribute to his son that died. I think he is still mourning and longing to hear from his son or feel his presence once again. There are still tears and pain in there hearts (or souls); but, he feels he is free and in a better place (heaven, to me). In my opinion, when he says neighbor, neighbor don't be so cold there is more to the story untold... he is telling others not to be so negative or gloomy as there is promise of a better place and it is not the end for his son as there is eternal life in Jesus and heaven to me. Anyway, that is what I take from the song.
