| Skeeter Davis – The End of The World Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This reminds me a little of the Rasputina song, "Crosswalk", especially how in Crosswalk, there is a line that says "Why is my bleeding heart beating?/ Why am I feeling no pain? Why do I cry when I say good?/ Why when you're calling my name" Obviously, this came before the Rasputina song, I just like how they are kind of the dame, but then again, completely not! I saw this in Girl, Interrupted, it's my ringtone. | |

| Rasputina – Nov. 17dee Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I like the little girl voice, it reminds me of a little Victorian ghost girl in a white dress walking down a corridor, looking around and occasionally skipping, perhaps clutching a cloth doll...yes... | |

I think it has two meanings, of course what Vamped Vixen said but also a gold-digger type, "study hard and go west" she knows what to do and is heading to new territory where the men don't know her tricks "You get those suckers to suck To suck out what is bad. 'Cause this is science not luck. Luck is not what you've had. But now you've brought yourself up" She has her process all thought out.. the leech part is that she becomes very attached to a guy then sucks out his money in a way. |

| Rasputina – Herb Girls Of Birkenau Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Perhaps Swayback, Ripcord, and Parachute Face were nicknames of either people or the torture they'd been assigned, like what was said about the parachutists drowning, that was a torture treatment. I can only imagine what swayback and ripcord were... O.o | |

It makes me think that the "perfect and model" women teachers are attempting to brainwash the little girls in a cheery way to distract people from what they're doing... "Listen to the pretty song. Happy as the day is long. Forget the things you thought you knew. We'll make a very good girl of you." the ending spoken part makes me feel so uplifted and confident which is corny, I know, it gives me chills...I imagine the girls, big and small in identical mud-splattered dresses with hair ribbons in rats' nests of once perfect curls, they are tiptoeing and shushing each other through a dark forest, the lantern lights of the angry people searching for them not too far away. A young girl about 5 or 6 looks up into the lead girl's face, the lead girl is the oldest and she has found out the tricks. She smiles down at the little girl's uplifted face, a grin on her lips and says proudly, "Don't worry, they can catch us or they could kill us, but they can never crush our spirits." |

| Emilie Autumn – Swallow Lyrics | 14 years ago |

I think it is talking about herself, if you listen to her Enchant album, (which I love, don't get me wrong) she was more faerie-like, (i.e wings) perhaps this song is her realizing that she can't be a real faerie and that she is becoming something else. Also, she had been abused throughout her life which I'm sure is what makes her say she is asexual. The part about "Filthy Victorians" reminded me a little of the theme of the Opheliac album, crazy, burlesque-y, victorian ladies. In victorian times, burlesque girls, whores, and prostitutes were a filthy subject. I think the whole "Swallow" part is referring to pills. She has serious manic-depression but keeps control of it with medication. Her "sea-level" could be the depression and or mania or emotions, there is a flood of it and the pills keep it down. "20 years, sinking slowly" well, she is 31 years old so....I don't know when she was abused/raped but perhaps it was about 20 years ago, and well, that surely triggered her manic depression severely and she was sinking. Overall, I believe the song is about her life and how and why she changed from a light-hearted faerie to a "filthy Victorian" and how that's been working for her. |
