Gorillaz – Man Research (Clapper) Lyrics 13 years ago
I laughed as I read "see the taffu on the send."

These lyrics are not correct as "taffu" is not a word.

The word that should be there instead is "Tafil" which is a type of prescription tranquillizing drug (like Xanax).

I also think the word "send" in that line is "sand" so the line is:
"I see the Tafil on the sand"

because the next line is, "I got sunshine, I got you"
The two lines together suggesting he's laying in an environment with lots of sun such as the a beach, or a desert.

The word "model" is also incorrect, should be male (as others have suggested.)

Also in the second chorus, after he goes "yayayayayaya,"
it then goes, "lover, lover, lover, lover, lover -la, lover -la, lover -la-la-la..."
just an extra word that may suggest some meaning, who knows.

stop relating it to Twilight, it wasn't written for it, god.

It's about change and moving on.

The song is about men that use and trick girls.. into sex, either rape, or a "fake" relationship.

>>"In the dark, we come out and play, we are it's children and we're here to stay"<<
Men are "the children of darkness," meaning they are bad.

Then it talks about clubbing out at night, and dancing, and that's when they lure the girls in...

>> "My ghost inside you, soon will be"<<
This line is suggesting the evil drive within him will effect her emotionally and physically.

>>"I don't want sex, but you give it"<<
Reinforcing the line I quoted before, using the girl for sex (she didn't want it)

Everything in the last verse indicates guilt, misery and consequences of the man's actions on the girl
[written from the man's point-of-view]

>>"Now it's over, you've taken your life,
The dark grows thin and I'm left to hide,
I don't regret it, but it's sad anyway,
Now we're both dead, and scared of the black.

This life of games, and diligent trust,
It's the things we do, or the things we must.
I'm now tired of being cussed,
So go to sleep forever end to dust"<<

So above, you can see that the man's consequences have affected both of them, she has "taken her life" or deeply distressed from being tricked into sex (rape) , and he "doesn't regret it."

To me, I'm not 100% certain on this one, but some things suggest he has taken his own life as well, maybe from the guilt of doing it.. he's >> "tired of being cussed," and goes "to sleep forever, end to dust"

In the verses, he is empathising (as if he has experienced it.)

In the chorus, he is comforting.

"Yeah yeah and it's ok"
^^^ (comforting)

"I tie my hands up to the chair so I don't fall that way"
^^^ This line suggests preventing or learning from something happening, paying attention to binary opposed words "tie" and "fall."

"I took a sip of something poison but I'll hold on tight"
^^^ "Poison" is a metaphor for bad/unwanted things in life
^^^ "I'll hold on tight" = "you'll get through it"

I wouldn't call this song a sombre or sad tone, but rather an uplifting and encouraging one for when one's dealing with bad situations/problems/sadness/depression etc.

This song it comforting to me because he's generally talking about getting back on your feet when times get hard in life.
