| I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with softness, perspex is lucite, that's not very soft, they make furniture out of it. I'd say its more of an observation of a rise in the use of synthetic materials... Wimpy Bar is an actual restaurant, I think the commentary comes in with the rubber bun... Fairy snow is a flower who's origin is Asia, this song was written around a time when America saw a dramatic increase of synthetic materials coming from Asia... Day-glo started making an appearance around the same time marking the beginning of a new era, an era in which people rely on man-made materials... and it is made of plastic, a man-made material... | |
