Here's my interpretation verse by verse: You're searching for your mind don't know where to start, Can't find the key to fit the lock on your heart You think you know but you are never quite sure, Your soul is ill but you will not find a cure. Yeah First Verse is about someone who delves into the world of drugs after searching for meaning in his meaningless world. The man thinks he's found a "cure" to this meaningless, but in reality this is just making his existence worse. Your world was made for you by someone above, But you chose evil ways instead of love You made me master of the world where you exist, The soul I took from you was not even missed. Yeah Second Verse is when the drug speaks to him, telling him he was placed here with a plan to achieve meaning, but the man uses his energy in negative and counter productive ways instead of good or productive ones. The drug continues to tell him that he has failed this "plan" that was he born into, and that his creators are so disappointed that he is not even missed. Lord of this world, Evil Possessor, Lord of this world, He's your confessor now! Third Verse is the drug claiming victory as he becomes the man's main focus in the world. You think you're innocent you've nothing to fear, You don't know me, you say, but isn't it clear? You turn to me in all your worldly greed and pride, But will you turn to me when it's your turn to die? Yeah Fourth Verse is the man denying the use of his drug feeling that he is believable, maybe even literally telling someone he doesn't know the drug, but clearly this man does. The drug tells the man how he becomes the one thing in the world to him, and asks if the drug will become the cause of the man's death. Overall, I found the song to be about a drug addiction, maybe even something as seemingly harmless as Marijuana. In Ozzy's case, he did turn to Marijuana during the early years of Black Sabbath, but progressed into a harsher world of actually-harmful drug abuse. |
