This can be a bit of a long-shot, but I actually don't think this song is about two friends or two sisters. I interpret it as a girl who's going through a tough time in life, especially with her faith. I think this song is another song with a Christian perspective. "Seventeen years by her side Broke the same bread Wore the same clothes and we said We're sisters with nothing between If one of us fall The other will soon be following" I think this is about a girl who is Christian and has had a good life this far; she trusts God, believes in Him and knows that without help of God, things wouldn't go so well. "Both of you fell the same day You don't know why One of you never woke up And you laid your body down on the floor You're desperate to hear her footsteps again But this house is on fire, we need to go" She's hit by a crisis without a warning (death, a turn in life or something else that's evil), and suddenly it doesn't feel as bright anymore and she feels as if God has abandoned her. She's maybe even ashamed of herself and blames herself for not trusting God enough. She's afraid of what has happened and tries to get her faith back. The crisis haunts her and she tries to cure it with her faith as she always has done, but it doesn't work. "Oh, you don't have to go it alone, go it alone Run for your life, my love Run and you don't give up With all that you are All that you want I will be close behind Run for your life" I think the chorus is God assuring her that he's with her even if things feel horrible. He tells her to run away from the evils that haunt her, to not give in not matter what and be sure that He's with her through it all. "She had a fire inside And that terrified you You swore that you'd never lose your control Baby, let yourself go 'cause part of you hides And I know the hunger inside of you is strong You can only hold back the river so long" The crisis that hit her was stronger and more severe than she expected and she's so scared of the feeling and that it'll never be alright again. She tries to get the crisis under control since it's suffocating her, and she's afraid of what will happen if she don't. God tells her to relax, that the way she's handling it brings out the worse in her and this is not how He wants her to act. She has maybe lost all her will for life right now but God knows it's buried under all of her sadness and fright. He will take care of it for her since He promised her He would. This is only my interpretation and it can be WAY off what it really means, but I wanted to share anyway. :) Cheers! |

Awesome song! Truly awesome. Somehow I've always associated this song with a 'friendship' finally broken off. Two friends that has stuck together through tough times but now one of them thinks the other has turned into an a**hole and decides to finally break it off. "Your subtleties, they strangle me I can't explain myself at all" Every single thing that the friend does makes him sick and he can't explain why the things didn't bother him before. "The walls start breathing My mind's unweaving Maybe it's best you leave me alone" They're involved in something that's originally the friend's fault and now it's getting out of their hands. He thinks it's best if the friend just leaves him alone since it's the friend who got him into the mess in the first place. "When darkness turns to light It ends tonight, it ends tonight" His life felt immidiately better as he ended their friendship. "A falling star Least I fall alone" He's all on his own now, but at least he doesn't have anyone chasing after him.(I'm still thinking of bloodthirsty maffia bosses and such things they were involved in before.) "I can't explain what you can't explain You're finding things that you didn't know I look at you with such disdain" He can't explain to the ex friend what changed, since the ex friend can't explain what made himself change. The ex friend doesn't understand what he means about him changing so he tells the ex friend exactly what he thinks about him. "Now I'm on my own side It's better than being on your side It's my fault when you're blind It's better that I see it through your eyes" He tells him how he all these years has stood up for him and been on his side but now it's over. He's seen the ex friend treat people like shit (even him) and possibly even kill someone, but he has always come up with an excuse for him. "All these thoughts locked inside Now you're the first to know" He has always kept his opinion and thoughts to himself. But now he finally lets it out. "Just a little insight Won't make this right It's too late to fight" The ex friend realizes what he has become and tries to apologize but he tells him it's too late, that it's too late to fight. This got pretty long. ^^" oh well, my interpretation defenitely got through. ^^ |
