a pregnant couple heading for greener pastures although are really quite pesimistic. that's what I get out of the song. In the context of the album it makes me think that they may be on the run from the law though. |

I listen to this each time & think this is as good as Paul Simon got then remember The Sound of Silence, Bridge Over Trouble Water, Mrs. Robinson, Diamonds on the sole of her shoes & a couple others. 5 reason why Paul Simon goes toe-to-toe with Bob Dylan & Neil Young as far as great lyricists. Paul Simon alway maintained he thought it was an unfinished song & would fill in the chorus replacing the lie-la-lie. i reckon it would have been a completely different song if he did, personally I'm quite satisfied. haha |

great song & will forever take on new meanings. with climate change scepticism reinvigorated by the potential carbon tax. It's not that they 'can't' understand it's that they 'won't' understand as it's inconvenient. this song will stand the test of time as an eco-anthem in australia. |

I like the link to the fox in their coats & red scarves. think it all ties to the circle of life & nature in general, if you watch the film clip it's a man turning a wheel circulating the stars & the sun. reference to the circulating season in summer & the new life which it will bring in the comparison to strawberries. maybe he's falling taking down some prey as he goes & the blood turning the snow red isn't Michaels. |
