man i just love listening to this song (and entire album) while im cruising on my skateboard. this song is so surreal and it makes for a great ride. i thought the chorus part said "im in love with you" either way it pretty much means the same. great song great beat great band |

this song seams a little more obvious to me than most of the other songs. its about your wife. she is an ugly old hag and even growls sometimes. shes full of strife and wont even let you get any leg so you cheat on her and the "motel sex" is still on your hand. she seams to be bigger than you refering to your "small hands wished away and held back" "painted ocean floor" makes me think of all the other fish in the sea. pipe and seed seams to be you ejaculating. (haha) making your "weight relax". releasing the presure of the metaphorical tape binding you up. as for the houseboat part im really not sure. maybe the motel is a houseboat motel? hence the four shoes under the stall. |

all i can think about when i hear this song is the fisherman's wife waiting for him day after day, year after year on the shore. she sleeps alot and at night you dont see the house lit up with life. NOoooo Light. there is a deep sense of driftwood when i hear this. the tides coming and going. there are holes in the plot meaning the fisherman should have been back home a long time ago. the story isnt satisfying in the sense of completion. she will wait for him until she turns grey. and you will run her errands until you are shortchanged one day. the cashier is the epitomy of greed with his lightning fast wit charming you blind. you know the fisherman's wife and sooth her pain, and there is nothing left to do but marry her and light up her house. |

i think hes refering cigarettes on the line "traps for you fingers" hes refering to alcohol on the line "fire for you mouth" while your walking through the path of life the stones catch your foot, hence "stones for you passage" and i believe hes refering to a relatioinship gone sour, but neither one of them wanst it to end. still though the love is slowly fading. i "feel" this song more than i understand it. and it feels so good. as does the next song on the album. |
