I guess this is the end result when English isn't your first language, and there's a bit of German in the mix (they're Swiss). Swiss clocks turn into Japan dots, there's geisha houses, yellow girlfriends and rice-booze too. Fucking high-end stuff, this, but it still manages to look like Mensa material alongside a Herman Rarebell lyric. And the music pretty much reflects Krokus' approach to music, i.e. let's take a chunk of Hotel California and write a song around it. Which was a bit clever considering that the rest of the time they spent in the studio was spent reconstituting AC/DC songs. They cracked America for a short period which I couldn't understand until I realised European metal acts usuaally had to dumb down for the American market. I don't think Krokus were dumb, far from it, they like the Scorpions realised the cash was in the lowest common denominator end of the market and why bother attempting to write your own stuff when you could steal it. Nothing new in that except they made a career out of it. By the way it wasn't off the turntable when I was 15. I loved it. 8-) |

I don't really care care what this song means in terms of it's lyrical content. Today I played it for the first time in about 20 years and I'd forgotten what a beautiful song it is. It made me think of my children, two of whom have left home, two about to become adolescents and how, now, after bringing these lovely beings into the world time is going so quickly and it won't be long until they've all grown up and gone away. |

| Scorpions – Don't Make No Promises (Your Body Can't Keep) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| About two lines in you knew it was a Herman lyric and a trite re-working, on Rudolf's part, of the musical formula from the earlier 'Another Piece of Meat'. Dreadful stuff. And they used the word 'neat' too. Hilarious. Using this approach they went onto conquer the world. | |

| Pencils were short in the Scorpions office that day, so Herman decided he'd write it with his cock. The result just happens to be the most tedious jizz-fest in rock history from the same band that produced the sublime "We'll Burn the Sky'. | |
