Some people here think this song is about junkies, and while I think that's possible, this song strikes me as more general. The narrator is starting to feel a genuine love for this girl, and he recognizes it in vivid detail as he watches her sleep. Unlike strangers, she is peaceful and beautiful, and this realization makes him want to be a better man. She gives him motivation and inspiration, but she does not allay his fear. Even though he recognizes her as the eye in his storm, his still is filled with anxiety, and worries that he can never reach her level of peace. |
