It seems like he's talking about two lovers that are being separated by something. To me this is college. In the beginning, he's wondering if they even have a chance to be one of the lucky couples who stay together even in college. He's kinda accepting the fact that they aren't gonna be like that, despite how they feel. Next he's coming to grips with the fact that he really does love her and that, despite the odds, he's gonna try his hardest to keep them together. He's just being realistic and trying not to get his hopes up. Then comes the separation and he's putting everything he's got into keeping their relationship going, cause if there's one thing to risk everything for, it's love. In order to see that though, you have to go through the pain that comes with the separation, to know what you're missing so you can cherish it more. Finally, it's actually working and they're love is growing even more and he's beginning to see that the two of them were destined to be together, but if he had remained pessimistic like he was in the beginning and hadn't taken the chance to actually try to keep their love alive, the paradise they're now living wouldn't exist. |
