Līve – Love Shines (A Song for My Daughters About God) Lyrics 12 years ago
If anyone is more familiar with Buddha's teachings, as I don't know much, please correct me if I have something wrong. So far as I understand many aspects of Buddha's teachings are compatible or within Christ's.

Live often home very close to the Truth, and this is one of those times. This is a great song about God, who is Love. I agree with the earlier comments though, that I don't think Love was part of Buddha's teachings; but I wonder also if Ed included him to prevent this from being taken purely in a Christian context.. However I think it lends itself much more to that than anything else. The Buddha, if I am not mistaken, focused more of eliminating desire, because he thought it was bad. Christ however affirmed that desires can be good, but we must deny them when they conflict with the laws established by God; and instead turn our focus to loving others before ourselves. In this way we can be free; free to choose when it is good, and not choose when it is bad.

I always see this song from the Christian viewpoint, which sees this song as a one about Redemptive Suffering. Especially being Catholic, I know this is taught that suffering through pain or even self denial and sacrifice can lead to greater insights into Love and God. So in short, the weight that lays on our shoulders can bring us closer to God if we let it, it can be a vehicle to redeem us. If we let it.

Third Day – Nothing At All Lyrics 14 years ago
This song's lyrics are pretty straight forward. I have to say agree with what it is saying too: So many people just don't watch what they say - but theres also a lot more to this. It is also about having respect for other people (as the scripture said in the song clearly says). Its a very difficult thing to tame your tongue, but it is important that we do not curse people (who are made in God's image) and praise God with the same tongue.

Smalltown Poets – New Man Lyrics 14 years ago
This is a very empowering song, I believe. Its pretty self - explanatory if you ask me, but here it is:
Our thoughts are a part of our soul just as our eyes are part of our body. Also, our thoughts have a great effect on our soul, and we have the power to control what comes in to the temple of our bodies/souls (the lamp we control). Don't be led astray by flattery or be deceived by something else in the world, it never satisfies and leaves us still needing. The only thing that can satisfy is Christ in our lives. Here in the song, the speaker finds that by following Jesus he gets what he is needing and thus the void in his life is filled. Meanwhile, to me, he see the consequences of people filling the void / their needs in a way that is not of God - and he sees them being consumed.

Possibly the most important part of this whole song is the idea that we can shove the world aside and if we let Christ in our lives (key is us allowing Him!) then we become new men and women - and the past doesn't matter so much anymore, but rather our future is the important part!
